Shannon Ryan is a mixed media painter from Philadelphia. She received a BFA in Illustration at University of the Arts in 2018. She currently lives and works in Philadelphia.

Hand impressions, and lived-in palettes and textures are created through various methods of printmaking, painting, and sculpture. For a deeper material understanding of the work, she references clay sculptures she builds which are sometimes photographed and transferred onto a surface where it alchemically merges with other mediums. Taking influence from magical realism, symbolism and ancient artifacts, her work functions as a theatrical reconstruction of memories and dreams and objects made and inherited which hold power over reality when we are no longer here.
